Easy Paint Chip Wall Art

I originally saw this on Pinterest. And since then I have seen tons of different versions. Jennifer from Life Crafts & Whatever made her own super awesome version. Go check it out.

I was super excited to make this. Most of the ones I have seen have been made with plywood. I'm not crazy about plywood so I decided to use a 24x36 canvas. I went to Walmart and grabbed a ton of samples in all different colors. (I love Lowes too much to take all of their samples. Ha.) They were really an awkward shape and I needed them to be 3x4 to fit on my canvas how I wanted them to. I used a ruler and my Cricut paper trimmer.

After they were all cut, the Boyfriend and I laid them all out on the canvas and moved them around until we got them how we wanted them.
We used a spray adhesive to stick the paint chips to the canvas. We sprayed the canvas AND the back of the paint chips just to make sure they were going to stick. Once we got them all sprayed and stuck, we Mod Podged! When I started mod podging I noticed that some of the corners were kind of rolling up. I was ok with it not being "perfect", I was just worried about them pealing off so I used lots of Mod Podge and did 2 coats just to be sure they weren't going anywhere.

LOTS of Mod Podge.

After two coats of Mod Podge, I let it dry overnight.
I saw lots of them that were done using stain, but since I had glaze left over from a previous project I decided to use it. I just brushed it on with a bristly brush and wiped it off with a damp rag. I repeated "wipe on, wipe off" until I got the look I was going for. Because I used a white canvas, I brushed the glaze around the edges and just let it dry.

Glaze up close.

I went back over some individual paint chips to get the color I wanted. I had to let the glaze sit on some of them longer than others.

I let it dry and hung it on the wall. My favorite project so far. It was super cheap (only the cost of the canvas, on which is used a 40% off coupon) and fun! Not to mention incredibly easy!!
On the wall.

A better idea of the size. Forgive the ugly table...I am on the hunt for a new one =)
Well, there she is! Are you inspired to make Paint Chip Wall art of your own?! I hope so!!

Happy Wednesday Y'all!!

-Bulletin Board Makeover-

Hey y'allllll!! This has got to be the easiest project I have EVER done. First, I want to say that I loved "pin boards" long before they were cool. The virtual pin board now rules the world (Pinterest)<---Which I also LOVE. However, I am not ready to part with my real, physical pin board that I can actually pin real things and ideas on. Lol. I am actually laughing at myself. It's kinda weird, I know. Sooooo...I have had this bulletin board since high school. That's right. It was painted white with black fabric over the cork board and pink and white polka dot ribbon around the edges. Needless to say, I ripped all of that off =) and I was left with this...

Ugly right? I know. This lonely little bulletin board has just been hanging out collecting dust. I hadn't really decided what I wanted to do to it yet. I was at Hobby Lobby (because I had a 40% off coupon and I had to buy something with it. Ha.) So, I always check out the fabric, just because. I found burlap in the fabric clearance! That's rightttt! Just enough to cover my bulletin board! ANNNDDD it was only $1.20. Mmmm hmm. I was stoked. I  also grabbed some ribbon which happened to be 50% off, and some spray adhesive. FYI: Spray adhesive is great for bulletin boards because it holds really well, but if you ever want to re-do it again, you just pull the fabric right off!

Brown is 1 and 1/2 inch. Green is 7/8. Both Grosgrain.

It only took me about 30 minutes to finish this. I sprayed the cork on the bulletin board a few inches at a time so I could get my burlap on just right. Then I cut my ribbons to go around the edges. I used a lighter to seal the ends of the ribbon so they don't fray over time. I hot glued my ribbons around the edge, starting with the brown since it was the larger of the two. Then glued the green and white right down the middle of the brown. The end. That simple. Here you go...

I love it!!

Up close.
Another view.

Happy Friday y'all (even though it's almost over!)

*Thankful Thursday*

I spend a lot of time telling God what I want and complaining to Him about this or that. Worrying about this and stressing about that. I always forget to thank him. He has already given me so much. He is by my side every day, He listens to me, He comforts me, He protects me, and most of all, He sent his only son to die for ME. And you, of course. I'm so selfish in my relationship in Him. I tried to think about how I would feel if it was the other way around. If I had a friend who only called me or texted me when they needed something or wanted to complain about so and so. I'm pretty sure I would be really hurt. How selfish am I to only go to God when I NEED something or when I need to vent. This is what the Bible says about being thankful...

Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

"Thank God no matter what happens" Even in my moments of weakness and complaining, I should be thanking HIM for what he has already done and is doing in my life.

Hallelujah! Thank God! And why? Because he's good, because his love lasts. Psalm 106:1

Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift! 2 Corinthians 9:15

The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults and with my song I give thanks to him. Psalm 28:7

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! 1 Chronicles 16:8

Today starts a new journey of being thankful! Here are just a few things that I am thankful for...
I am thankful that God sent his one and only son to die for me.(and you)
I am thankful that He knows what I need before I speak it.
I am thankful for His grace and that he loves me even when I don't deserve it.
I am thankful for His plans for my life.
I am thankful for my amazing parents, their love for the Lord, and their unending love, support and advice.
I am thankful that I am surrounded by people who want encourage me and lift me up.
I am thankful for a job where I get to work with wonderful women everyday.
I am thankful for the little blessings. (The right song when I need to hear it, a hug when I need it.)

What are you thankful for today?
